Our Oral Surgery Services

When it comes to oral surgery Breinigsville, PA patients can count on, our team has all the necessary resources. Here are the services we offer:

Tooth Extractions

Extraction is necessary when you have a wisdom tooth, a damaged tooth which is beyond repair, your mouth is overcrowded, you have an impacted tooth, an infection or risk of an infection, or you have a gum disease.

You ought to be aware of what to expect when you come in for extractions. The extraction will be performed by our dentist or oral surgeon. Before extracting your tooth, we will administer local anesthesia in order to numb the area. If you need more than one extraction or your tooth is impacted, a strong general anesthesia will be used to prevent pain throughout your body and cause you to sleep throughout the procedure.

After an extraction, a blood clot forms in the socket. A gauze pad will be packed into the socket. You’ll need to bite down to stop the bleeding. We may stitch the gum edges over the extraction site to stop bleeding.

Recovery from oral surgery in Breinigsville, PA takes a few days. Here are some things you need to follow to minimize discomfort, speed up your recovery process, and reduce the risk of infection:
  • Take your painkillers as prescribed
  • Apply an ice pack to the affected area immediately following the procedure to keep swelling at bay
  • Relax for minimum 24 hours after extraction
  • Limit your activity
  • Avoid rinsing, spitting forcefully, and sucking through a straw for 24 hours to avoid dislodging the clot

Removing Impacted Wisdom Teeth

Although wisdom teeth are important as your other teeth, they are prone to problems during their eruption. Wisdom teeth usually erupt between the ages of 12 and 21. Hence, there’s inadequate space left in the mouth to accommodate them. Due to this, wisdom teeth may erupt sideways, partially, or become trapped, leading to severe pain, infection, and gum line. Wisdom teeth can also cause facial swelling.

Impacted tooth extraction is very similar to wisdom tooth extraction. When your tooth is prevented from reaching its normal position in the mouth by tissue, bone, or another tooth, you may experience extreme pain. Call Nurture Dental Health today to schedule an appointment. We will determine the best course of action. During your visit, we also determine whether our dentist or oral surgeon should perform the procedure. We will also decide on the type of sedation you will need.

Dental Implants

This oral surgery in Allentown, PA is more common than you may think. A dental implant is a small, biocompatible titanium screw that serves as the replacement for the root portion of a missing tooth. A dental implant fuses with the bone and becomes a good anchor for the replacement tooth. We can anchor a single crown to one implant, or affix a bridge, partial or denture to some strategically placed implants.

Traditional dentures, on the other hand, depend on natural suction or messy adhesives for stability. Hence, they are prone to slippage.

As dental implants last for a lifetime, they are now widely accepted as the preferred tooth-replacement option.

Impacted Tooth Exposure, Bonding, and Bracketing

A frequently encountered problem with orthodontic treatment is altered eruption and impaction of teeth. The impaction of such teeth is caused by a number of reasons, such as canines and premolars, and ranges from loss of space in the arch to resorption of the roots of the adjacent teeth. To properly manage this condition, the combined efforts of a number of our dental team, including the orthodontist who provides you with the optimal treatment options and the most favorable outcome is necessary.

Impacted teeth, such as canines and premolars, cannot erupt into the dental arch. For such situations, a surgical procedure to adapt an orthodontic button/bracket for the orthodontist to use to further assist the impacted tooth into the correct dental position is required.

During the procedure, an incision is made in the gums. The incision exposes the impacted tooth. A bonding material is used to maintain the button / bracket to the impacted tooth. The area is then allowed to heal. Our dentist will then make an appointment to begin management of positioning the tooth. Call us today to learn more about this oral surgery in Allentown, PA

Sinus Lifts

When we find out that there isn’t enough bone in the upper jaw, or the sinuses are too close to the jaw to allow us to place implants, we will add bone between the upper jaw and the maxillary sinuses.

When bone is added, your sinus cavity must be moved upward to ensure that your jaw and sinuses aren’t too close to each other. This procedure is called a sinus lift or sinus augmentation. You’ll be pleased to know that we will perform this procedure in-house.

Tori Removal

Bony Tori are fairly common and more often than not cause no issue in most individuals.  Bony Tori are an excess growth of bone.

Tori removal is a commonly performed procedure prior to fitting lower dentures or other dental appliances as this area of tissue will be in intimate contact with the appliance.  Tori can present an issue to those wearing dentures or other appliances.

Why you should have your mandibular tori removed?
  • Improves the proper fit of dentures
  • Prepare for other prosthetic implants
  • Chronic pain due to oral trauma / inflamed gum surfaces
  • To allow more space for the tongue to rest, instead of posteriorly positioning the tongue to limit airway resistance or obstruction
  • To rule out pathology when necessary
